Nobu Omakase

This past week I went to Nobu and decided to test out their Omakase. There are $100 and $150 options and I chose the latter, you only live once right?

It was absolutely worth the money and I am not quite sure how I made it through the seventh sushi course. Just barely. :)

I highly recommend this Omakase – my favorite dishes were the live shrimp, sashimi and the octopus.

smith’s bakery – bakersfield, ca

I’ve definitely written about these delicious cookies in the past but I felt like I had to re-inform the world about them. If you’re ever in Bakersfield, go to Smith’s Bakery and get happy face cookies and thumbprints. They also have chocolate thumbprints for the chocolate-inclined.

If you’re a fan of pink champagne cake, theirs it to-die-for.

Their frosting is unlike any other- the recipe is super secret. It’s thick but still soft and sweet but not too sweet. You’ll have to taste it to believe it!

Bludso’s BBQ

Bludso’s BBQ opened up a location around the corner from me and I was there last week for their opening day. About 20 other BBQ loving people were lined up when they opened on President’s Day.

They serve all their meat by the pound (or by links) and we had a pound of ribs and 1/4 pound of brisket, which was way too much for 2 girls lol. For sides we had Potato Salad, Collard Greens and Mac N Cheese.

You have your choice of hot vs. regular BBQ sauce. I like spicy but not too spicy so I chose the regular sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection. They also serve a large selection of cocktails including mint julep on tap. I’m not quite sure what that means but they are STRONG. Their jackpot cocktail is also delicious.
