I finally had a chance to try Paiche, Ricardo Zarate’s restaurant in Marina Del Rey. Their menu is extensive and slightly overwhelming – so most of my choices were from reading FourSquare and Yelp reviews.
My favorite menu items include the Scallop Ceviche, Chaufo de Langosta (Lobster fried rice) and the Molten Chocolate Cake with Yuzu. Unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of the chocolate cake because we dug right in, but it’s definitely worth it. The Scallop Ceviche was flavorful, fresh and citrus-y. The Lobster fried rice was aromatic and delicious. There’s actually mussels, calamari, and clams in addition to the lobster.
I would pass on the Crispy Tuna Tacu Tacu which is their play on Nobu’s (or Katsu-ya’s) Spicy Tuna with Crispy Rice. It’s missing that umph that I get every time I’ve bitten into the dish at Nobu or Katsu-ya.
Last but certainly not least the Pisco Sours were delicious. The first had a little fish and the second had an elephant drawn in it with Angostura Bitters. I’ll definitely be back for more, including their neverending ceviche with every seafood you could think of including uni.
