I had a long layover in London and HAD to go to Bob Bob Ricard. Any restaurant with a Champagne Button is a restaurant for me. The button actually works, as soon as a pressed it a man, who I will call The Champagne Man promptly arrived to get our champagne orders. Within 3 minutes we had two beautiful glasses of champagne at our table. Definitely needed after an 11 hour flight.
Highlights of the meal included Baked Oysters Brezhnev with Parmesan and Black Truffle and Steak Tartare with Foie Gras, Capers, and Rye Crispbread. The decor is gorgeous but not stuffy. The service is lovely and helpful.

I used to be an over-medium girl, but soft boiled is in my opinion, the perfect egg. The only way I’ll eat the entire thing. Unlike many friends of mine, I’m a fan of the yolk. You know, the least healthy part of the egg. Because of course!
Today I make soft boiled eggs and a strawberry banana mango smoothie for breakfast.
I found this video (with a great soundtrack btw) about how to cook the perfect soft boiled egg. It worked perfectly!
LA Weekly called Osso the best restaurant you aren’t eating at, and I couldn’t agree more. I stopped by yesterday for the second time, and it did not disappoint.
Located in the Arts District where the One Eyed Gypsy is located, it’s a nice hang for dinner or drinks. When you walk in there’s no host, or there hasn’t been the last two times I’ve been by which is a bit weird, so you seat yourself. The cocktails are delicious (I had a whiskey sour) .
MUST ORDERS: Sugar Snap Pea Salad. Couldn’t believe how good this was. Creamy thanks to a yogurt and dill dressing. We inhaled this dish. Live Diver Scallop. Served in the shell in kolhrabi, mandarinquat, and lemon basil. Absolutely divine. I have never had a scallop this fresh ever. Skilled Fried Chicken (not pictured), allow 45 minutes to order this deliciousness. Tagliatelle (not pictured) – house made pasta with meyer lemon and pistachios. So fresh and clean tasting.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Kusshi Oysters. Rye Brownie.
I found out just recently that Cole‘s has bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4. A good friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to have a little brunch for Easter. Not only do they have $12 bottomless mimosas but they have a Breakfast Dip (Cheese, Bacon, Egg) with Hollandaise + Bottomless Mimosa Combo for $15 (ONE. FIVE.).
Not the healthiest thing ever but I worked out twice on Sunday. 🙂 The sandwich is delicious, it actually doesn’t really require the dip but I do recommend eating it with their delicious Atomic Mustard. Mmmmm! Definitely a great place to catch up with friends on a weekend morning. And obviously it’s hangover friendly.
Last time I was in SF I had some delicious cocktails at The Alembic, and of course had to come back again. I ordered the grilled beef jerky as a snack – worth the wait!
Their version of a Manhattan (New B.F.F.) and bourbon old-fashioned were STRONG (!) and delicious. They also had girl scout cookie cocktail pairings.
A wonderful place to step out of the rain for a snack and drink.
I took a quick (less than 24 hour) trip to the Bay for work last weekend and ended up at the Ferry Building for lunch. One of my favorite things to do is peruse the Ferry Building for interesting food like mushroom jerky and stinky cheeses. An always necessary stop is the Hog Island Oyster Company which has thankfully increased exponentially in size since the last time I went there. The oyster sampler is always delicious and if you sit at the Oyster Bar or outside you get a lovely view of the Bay Bridge.
The Oyster Po Boy did not disappoint. I recommend sharing and ordering a ton of stuff off the menu. Not pictured – the Fried Oysters and Waffles are another must-order.
The exhibit has ended and hopefully will be up somewhere else soon (LACMA? MOCA? Come on!) I went to the Drake Valentine’s Day Party and it was a lot of fun. In case you haven’t heard there’s a cake maze (not really a maze but a few small rooms) and we even got to decorate our own cakes! Mine said fuck love since it was Valentine’s Day themed. 🙂
